Although Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B which premiered on Saturday, November 15th 2014 on Lifetime was a flop, executive producer Wendy Williams is not backing down, in fact Wendy WIlliams, talk show host addressed the criticism on her show Monday November 17th 2014.

"My 'Aaliyah' movie broke the internet,” Williams told her studio audience, celebrating the movies popularity. “Whether you love it or hated it, you watched. It was the second highest rated movie on cable this year,” continued the host. Williams dismissed the harsh internet feedback of the flick saying, “We all have opinions.”

The Lifetime "biopic" was plagued by controversy from the very beginning. Aaliyah’s family and estate vocally disapproved of the film from the beginning, a dispute that led to the film not obtaining the rights to use any of the late singer’s songs in the movie. Then, Zendaya Coleman, the actress who was initially cast in the lead role, dropped out of the project amid criticism that the mixed-race actress was “too light skinned” to play Aaliyah.

It seems as if Wendy Williams agenda was simply to get the people talking!
